Mr. Jackson's Class!
Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary- How potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
~Nathaniel Hawthorne

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew upon a thought, produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think
~Lord Byron

Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind.
~Rudyard Kipling

Welcome to the central hub and home base for my 8th grade reading classes here at North Middle School! Within this site, you will find information regarding upcoming classes and assignments, in addition to many of the handouts and guides that are an integral part of the class. As well, you will have the opportunity to access many links that will assist you throughout your journey of reading and writing growth.

On a lighter note, I have included a page documenting my interests, hobbies, and guilty pleasures, all in an effort to debunk that common misconception that all of us English and reading teachers are just homebound bookworms buried in work and reading. Ask any good writer: the only way to write realistically on life is to live it thoroughly and enthusiastically!

Peruse this sight, use the resources at hand, and most importantly, stop and take a moment to soak up the things around you: the beautiful sunset, a starry night sky, your family, your friends, and all the other things we often take for granted. These are just a few of the many commonly overlooked sources of both life and writing inspiration. Enjoy your stay, and come back for frequent updates!
